STRONG MAMA IN THE PARK FAQ
WHO ARE STRONG MAMA IN THE PARK CLASSES FOR?
Mums must have received the all clear to exercise since giving birth by your GP (usually at 6-8 weeks postnatal). Mums are advised to attend the Happy Fitness 12 Week Post Natal Fitness Programme alongside or prior to attending Strong Mama In The Park classes. There is no upper age limit for baby/toddler/pre-schooler so please bring bigger ones along, as long as they're well supervised during classes and you take full responsibility of them. All participants will be asked to complete a pre-activity questionnaire prior to participation.
I HAVEN’T EXERCISED FOR A LONG TIME/EVER. WILL THE CLASSES BE SUITABLE FOR ME?
Our Strong Mama In The Park classes cater to all levels of fitness and ability, so don’t worry if you’ve not done any exercise classes before! You’ll be joined by lots of other mums starting the classes for the first time so you won’t be alone. The exercises will be thoroughly explained and demonstrated. The workouts will be low impact, medium intensity and can be adapted to all fitness levels. Each class will be different but we will follow the same structure.
WHAT IF MY BABY CRIES DURING THE CLASS?
It is expected that babies/toddlers/pre-schoolers may cry or want attention during the class at some point. It’s your decision if you want to stop and comfort them and of course you can step aside to feed or change the baby whenever you need. It’s good to be prepared by bringing along your change bag plus some milk / food and toys to keep them happy. We’d also advise making sure you have a rain cover / sun shade for the buggy as we exercise in all weathers.
DO I NEED A RUNNING PRAM TO TAKE PART IN PRAM FIT CLASSES?
No special equipment is needed for these classes. We want to make them accessible to everyone. We never run fast with buggies and try to stay on paths or grass.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
You need to wear appropriate sports clothes to classes including trainers and a supportive sports bra. Dress in layers as you’ll warm up during the class! It’s usually a good idea to bring a waterproof jacket with you just in case.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING?
· An exercises mat, picnic blanket or towel
· Rain Cover/sunshade
· Sun cream (if required)
· Snack for baby/toddler
· Toys/ books to keep them entertained
WHAT IF IT RAINS?
· Strong Mama In The Park classes will operate in all weathers (unless the Met Office issues a warning) so come prepared.
· Remember rain cover or sun shade for prams as well as warm cloths and blankets as we might be moving but they are not.
CAN I COME WITHOUT MY BABY/CHILDREN?
· Strong Mama In The Park classes welcome all mums with or without their children in tow. If your babies/children are in school, nursery or if you have childcare arranged. You are welcome to come along and enjoy and hour socialising with the other mums whilst getting a workout in the fresh air.
WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL?
Once a booking has been made. Please message me directly on 07795822909 if you are unable to attend a session. Refunds will only be given with 24 hours notice. Transfers will be offered if requested before 6pm the day before the class.
